USDA raises Russia’s 2021 wheat harvest forecast to 74.5 mln tns

MOSCOW, Nov 10 (PRIME) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture has upgraded its forecast for Russia’s wheat harvest in the 2021–2022 agricultural year to 74.5 million tonnes from 72 .5 million tonnes, as seen by PRIME in the authority’s report released late on Tuesday.

The authority also increased Russia’s wheat export forecast for the 2021–2022 agricultural year, lasting from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, to 36 million tonnes from 35 million tonnes.

The authority expects the E.U. wheat exports to amount to 36.5 million tonnes in the period, and the U.S. exports to stand at 24 tonnes.

The Agriculture Ministry said previously that Russia’s grain exports might have amounted to 49 million tonnes in the 2020–2021 agricultural year, including 37.6 million tonnes of wheat. The export potential of the current agricultural year is estimated at 45–48 million tonnes.
